How to schedule a photoshoot


If you are scheduling for the first time and are not sure of the correct process, please follow the instructions here to ensure that you follow the correct protocol with the business owner.

By accepting this assignment, you will be representing OCUS in the eyes of our client. We count on you to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in your coming interactions. If a photoshoot already has an appointment scheduled, please respect this appointment and only assign yourself to the photoshoot if you are available at this time.


Assignments are not all the same. Please go to OCUS platform and verify the imagery you need to deliver.

DELIVERY


When and how to upload my images

Your priority is capturing excellent photos. To ensure consistency, OCUS is handling the post-production internally. Please respect the following requirements to make sure that we can deliver the best outcome to our client.

- Don’t edit any of your pictures (no crop, no edit). - Don’t erase your metadata. - Select your best shots and don't send more files than required. - Follow the naming convention below (take some notes during the photoshoot to keep all the needed information).

- Please make sure you upload your media in the correct category. - Don’t forget to validate your assignment after uploading your files. /!\ Send your pictures the same day than the photoshoot before midnight. /!\ Keep your RAW files until your mission is validated.

Your goal is to take enticing photos that make people eager to order from foodpanda platform.

⚠️ Remember to always shoot your photos in RAW format, but only upload JPG files to the OCUS platform.

LIGHTING

For Restaurant Ambience pictures:

  • Light conditions might vary but please use natural light when possible.

  • Use daylight from windows as main light source when possible.

  • Turn on the lights inside.

  • Ceiling lights correctly exposed.


For Single dishes pictures:

  • Natural (indirect) sunlight is preferred, if you don't have access to a window, we encourage you to use a 5-in-1 reflector to soften the light from the ceiling on the items, or add brightness in shadows.

  • Try to have your light come from the sides of the table, not behind it, in front of it, or above it.

  • The use of flash is optional.

  • The photos should have soft shadows.

  • Please avoid any distracting reflections on your table.


For Menu pictures:

  • Indirect and soft lighting.

  • Be mindful of shadows.

Restaurant Ambience

Shooting interior architecture photography involves adjusting the lighting and position of objects in the room to create the perfect mood and tell a story. Each restaurant has a mood and personality of its own, and you want to capture the essence of each space with each shot.

Do

- Take pictures of the atmosphere of the restaurant.

- Feel free to do small adjustments like straightening a framed photo. But, if the location isn’t ready, please ask to tidy up space before you take photos.

- Bring attention to highlights of the place.

-Keep shots simple and uncluttered while highlighting the unique qualities of each space.

- Use perspective and find the best angles to give depth and dimension to the place.

- Always shoot in horizontal format.

- Always check focus point.

- Leave room for different crop ratios.

-Hide any wires and cables.

- Remove any items in a bad condition.

- Make sure that tables and chairs are aligned.

- Ensure that every preparation have been taken by the restaurant.

- Make sure that amenities are shown as a guest would see it.


Don't

- Avoid capturing identical images.

- Try to capture the same location from different angles.

- Avoid using flash.

- Don't shoot portraits (landscape mandatory).

- Do not shoot from a high angle view or a low angle view.

- Do not shoot a cluttered space with too many tables, repetitive items (menus, condiments, collateral, etc.)

- No trash/trash cans in the frame.

- No people, animal in the frame.

  • Camera Mode: Aperture Priority

  • 14-24mm (full frame)

  • Aperture > f/8 - f/11

  • ISO 100 - 400 max.

Single dish

🍛 Single dish pictures are composed of a single main dish. The image will be shown in the app for the customer to select their dishes.

It can be a main dish or a drink or both (if they are sold together), sometimes they can include side dishes or a bigger portion for more than one person, please remember to always put the main element in the center of the frame.

  • Set a 45° angle by default for most dishes

  • 20° for burgers and sandwiches

  • 60° for soups, bowls, pizzas.

Do

-Always use your camera in a landscape format, even with objects like bottles.

-The ingredients should be visible, to understand the content of the dish.

- Place the main dish in the center of the frame, it has to be entirely visible after OCUS applies the 5:4 crop ratio for single dishes.

- Arrange the food properly, so it looks neat and tasty.

- Camera angle is important, set a 45° angle by default for most dishes (check out "tips and tricks" link for more details).

- Always check focus point.

- Leave room for different crop ratios.

BACKGROUND: Wood, stone or marble background only - No complicated pattern.

  • Clean of dust, crumbs.

  • Must be the same on all pictures.


Don't

- Do not put food directly on the table.

- Don't use plastic containers (food must be served on a plate or paper napkin).

- Do not shoot with cutlery, chopsticks or plastic straws on food/drinks.

BACKGROUND: No hard lights or hard shadows on background surface.

  • No skewed or bent lines in background.

  • Do not use damaged, rough or rustic-looking backgrounds that would distract from the food.

  • No flashy colors and reflective background.
